Vegan December

I quietly tried it for the first time last year. It took a few days to adjust but it really wasn’t that bad. I’ve been a vegetarian for a long time so it was only eggs and dairy that I had to say “so long” to for the month. It ended up being an amazing month for a long list of reasons:

-I set a goal and achieved it.

-I felt slightly kinder to the planet.

-I had extra energy for long walks and being that it was the festive holiday season, we tried to visit as many friends and family as possible.

-As a bonus, I was able to reel in my belt-buckle a notch or three and like Oprah before me, parade around in my “skinny jeans!”

Last year I made it until January 8th. I had a bagel with cream cheese and that opened up the floodgates.

I’ll keep me posted. And you too if you happen to be reading…

  1. Hmmm. I might seem if I can get through December without eating any vegetables. That’s something, no?

Seriously, tho, I think that ‘set a goal and achieved it’ thing is almost as important as the other factors. Good for you, and good luck!

Also, I don’t get the picture.

  2. I could never go vegan let alone vegetarian. I’m afraid I like meat just a little too much. I think the vegan diet would actually kill me 😉

Good luck … as you hug a tree and contribute to saving our planet. It’s all good! 🙂

  3. Hey Chris~
That would be a much funner challenge! I look forward to your online account. And it would be something for sure.
Yes, having goals seems to motivate us out of our slumber. And some goals are more easier achieved than others that’s for sure.
Regarding the picture~ You don’t remember that episode where Oprah carted out the 67 pounds of meat? One pound of meat for every pound of weight she had recently lost. Myself and the rest of the studio audience applauded voraciously as the Queen of Daytime revealed the she was once again able to slip back into her “skinny” jeans!!! It was a pretty big story back in the early 70’s…
